We are looking for a team lead for the "Hermitage" image transformation service. This solution acts as a unified layer between CDN and object storage, built on Go services and high-performance C++ libraries. We are deployed both on bare-metal (with GPU) and in the cloud.
The task is to manage the team and technical leadership, ensure traffic migration to the new architecture, and guarantee service reliability under peak loads. You will directly interact with clients from the company's core products, shaping the vision and development strategy of the service.
Responsibilities
- Hire, develop, and retain strong engineers
- Establish transparent development processes, code reviews, and planning
- Design and develop the architecture of a high-load image transformation service using nginx/Go/C++ stack with active use of GPU processing
- Make key technical decisions regarding content processing, caching, and delivery
- Ensure a smooth and seamless transition of load from current image transformation systems to "Hermitage", maintaining full compatibility with old request formats and behavior
- Build monitoring, alerting, and fault tolerance for the service in the cloud and on bare-metal servers
- Ensure stability during peak load processing
- Conduct incident post-mortems and plan improvements to prevent future incidents
- Work directly with the teams of VKontakte, OK, Zen, and other internal clients: gather requirements, synchronize roadmaps, assist with integration
Requirements
- Experience in industrial Go development
- Experience with distributed systems
- Experience in architecting distributed solutions
- Experience managing a team of 3-5 people for at least 1 year
